The very first thing that you need to do is sweep or vacuum the floor on a regular basis. By doing this, you will be able to remove the food crumbs, loose the dirt particles and get rid of other debris, which usually accumulate on the floors and make them look dirty. However, when dirt sits on wet areas, they quickly turn into grime, which are hard to remove. So that the grime is not formed and dust particles are not accumulated, make sure you sweep the floors regularly.

After sweeping, run a damp mop over the flooring if there are no stains. But if there are stains, mop floor by using warm water and vinegar solution. Mix half cup of vinegar with a gallon of water in order to mop the usual way. If you think the floors doesn’t look clean, mop it again using fresh water and detergent. Rinse floor with clean warm water after washing it. Make sure to remove all the residual soap from tiles so that it doesn’t remain in floor because if it does it will not only attract but also hold dust.

Accidental spills can really make a floor look shabby. So, clean up spills whenever they occur. If you drop a glass of juice or coffee, clean it right away. Don’t let it sit for long on the tile floor. However, if the spills are dirty enough, clean them with disinfectant. For instance, if your pet has done toilet on the floor or you have dropped raw meat, make sure to spray a disinfectant directly on the spot and wipe it right then. Limit the disinfectant to only that area where the spill has occurred because sometimes it has been found out that strong chemicals stain or degrade the tile flooring.

Drying the floor is also important. Whether you have used only water or a solution of water and detergent for cleaning the floor, run a dry mop over the tiles after you are done with your mopping job. This prevents new dirt from quickly mounting up on the floor and staining the grout.

So, if you want to keep it clean, follow the above-mentioned steps. You won’t find a tile cleaning job to be a hectic affair. After all, this is basically a do-it-yourself task.
